Question 1

How does the Falling Note Waterfall Piano mode work?

Accepted Answer

When you open a song and select "Waterfall Piano Practice", dynamic colored note ribbons fall downwards toward the keyboard, similar to music rhythm games (or Synthesia). As each note touches the corresponding key, that is when you play it. This intuitive interface enables beginners to learn songs immediately even before mastering sheet music reading.

Question 2

What is "Wait-for-Key" mode and how does it help beginners?

Accepted Answer

In Wait-for-Key mode, playback automatically pauses at each note and patiently waits until you strike the correct physical piano key (via Bluetooth/USB MIDI or on the on-screen keyboard) before advancing. You will never feel rushed or fall behind the tempo, allowing you to learn fingerings at your own natural pace.

Question 3

Can I practice my left hand and right hand separately?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! NextScore allows you to isolate either the right hand (melody) or left hand (bass / chords), or practice both hands simultaneously. You can also have the computer play the other hand automatically to accompany you.

Question 4

Can I switch note labels between Solfège (Do-Re-Mi) and Letters (C-D-E)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can toggle between Solfège names (Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Ti) and standard letter notation (C - D - E - F - G - A - B) directly on the falling waterfall bars and piano keys to reinforce note identification.

Question 5

How do I connect my digital piano or guitar via Bluetooth BLE-MIDI?

Accepted Answer

NextScore supports the MMA BLE-MIDI 1.0 standard directly in the browser via the Web Bluetooth API (Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet on PC, Mac, Android). Simply: (1) Turn on Bluetooth on your digital piano; (2) Click the "MIDI Piano" or Bluetooth icon on NextScore toolbar; (3) Select your instrument to pair. The connection is established wirelessly in seconds without needing any extra cables or drivers.

Question 6

Accepted Answer

Question 7

How does real-time multiplayer jamming and score collaboration work?

Accepted Answer

NextScore allows you to create a virtual music room and share a short PIN code (e.g., NS-812) with friends or students. When everyone joins, you can see each other’s keys light up in distinct colors in real-time, synchronize sheet playback, and practice or compose music together from anywhere.

Question 8

How can I compose or write down a new song from scratch?

Accepted Answer

Click "Music Studio" in the navigation bar or select "New Score". From there, simply click on the staff to place notes, select durations (whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth), add accidentals, ties, and press Play to hear realistic acoustic grand piano playback instantly.
